Treaty bodies
Committees of independent experts review how countries apply the human rights treaties they have ratified.
Universal Periodic Review
Every UN Member State has its human rights record reviewed by other States about every five years. Civil society and national human rights institutions can send information.
Special Procedures
Independent experts report on specific themes or countries, and can visit countries at their invitation.
