The Pacific Regional Office of the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) works with governments, national human rights institutions, civil society and UN partners across the Pacific to promote and protect the human rights of everyone in the region.

What we do
- Give technical advice on laws and policies so they respect human rights.
- Support countries to engage with the UN human rights system, including treaty bodies, the Universal Periodic Review and Special Procedures.
- Train public officials, police, civil society and journalists.
- Monitor and report on the human rights situation in the region.
- Lead the Human Rights Theme Group of the UN Pacific Strategy and its Disability Inclusion Working Group.
Why we do it
Human rights belong to everyone. Our work helps people in the Pacific know their rights and helps States meet the promises they have made in international law, with a clear local context.
How we do it
We work in partnership. We listen to communities, work with national institutions, and bring the expertise of the UN human rights system to the Pacific.
